Food and Drink Pregnancy

6 alcohol-free wines and spirits you’ll love in pregnancy and beyond

From gin to cocktails, these alcohol-free drinks taste so authentic you won’t know the difference…

While pregnant women were once resigned to basic soft drinks for nine months after eliminating alcohol, the boom in the no and low alcohol industry means there has never been more choice for tasty pregnancy-safe tipples. From pre-mixed cocktails to 0.0ABV gin that tastes as good as the real thing, here are just a few you’ll want to try – and they may become a firm favourite post-pregnancy too.

Alcohol-free fizz:

Freixenet 0% sparkling wine

Freixenet is one of the best-known Prosecco and cava brands, and they’ve mastered alcohol-free fizz, too. Whether you love a regular sparkling wine or rosé, you won’t be disappointed with their 0.0% alternative, which tastes as good as the real thing and costs just £5 a bottle. Available at Morrison’s and Tesco.

Alcohol-free wine:

Marks & Spencer alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc

Add this alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc to your basket on your next trip to the M&S food hall. Described as having notes of grapefruit and mango, this no alcohol, low calorie wine is a great choice if you’re craving a cold glass of vino. It’s also available in miniature bottles so you can get a taste without committing to a full bottle. Available on Ocado for £3.50 for a 70cl bottle.

Alcohol-free gin:

Gordon’s 0.0% gin

One of the newest alcohol-free spirits on the market, the affordable price and authentic taste of Gordon’s 0.0% gin makes it a winner in our eyes. Pick up a bottle for £14 at Tesco and serve with tonic and a squeeze of fresh lime.

Alcohol-free rum:

Rum is the latest spirit to get the alcohol-free treatment, and Stryyk is one of our favourites. Made with a combination of vanilla, raisin and Oakwood, it provides you with all of the flavour and none of the alcohol. Serve with ginger beer and a squeeze of lime. Available for £16 from Amazon.

Alcohol-free cocktails:

The Negroni is typically a potent mix of gin, sweet vermouth and Campari, but you can still get a taste of your favourite tipple with this clever zero alcohol alternative – the NOgroni. Crafted by the team behind Seedlip, it is available for £10 on Selfridges for a pre-mixed 20cl bottle.

Alcohol-free aperitifs

Martini Non-Alcoholic Vibrante

Just because you aren’t drinking, you don’t need to miss out on delicious aperitifs. Martini’s non-alcoholic Vibrante is made with the same wines as Martini’s classic vermouths, and is delicious served over ice with tonic water. Order from Sainsbury’s for £12 a bottle.
